The more important feature of the Pro-Star II TM is the adjustable rim elevation. Height selections are infinitely adjustable from 6'6" to 10'0". This makes the Pro-Star II TM ideal for all age groups from Biddy Ball to adult league play. Height selection is easily and quickly accomplished by releasing the post clamp at the top of the main post and simply re-positioning the slide post to the desired rim elevation. Them re-tighten the clamp. Rim elevations are read on the back of the main post.
At the heart of the Pro-Star II TM is the height adjustable slide post. An internal spring applies upward pressure to balance the weight of the post and backboard. The top of the main post clamps on the slide post to secure the selected elevation and eliminated undesirable shake in backboard. The main post in constructed of 3 1/2" x 11 gauge steel tubing. The slide post is zinc plated and constructed of 3" x 11 gauge steel tubing.
Tension on the internal chrome-silicon spring can be adjusted to allow an easier glide motion when raising the slide post. Tension is adjusted by tightening or loosening the nut on the head of the slide post sleeve. Other similar designs use only standard steel coils that provide 30% less stretch and no spring tension adjustment
When the rim is adjusted to 10'0", the extension on the backboard from the base is at least 48". This provides full clearance under the basket to the base line. As the rim is lowered, the backboard extension is reduced to provide more stability for dunking.
The Pro-Star II TM carries a 54" x 33" acrylic backboard. This super sized backboard is also reinforced on each side of the shooting square. This provides excellent bank shot rebound characteristics off of the backboard. Other goals that sell in the same price range carry only a 48" wide acrylic backboard with no reinforcement. The Pro-Star II TM backboard is framed with a heavy steel powder coated angle to help stiffen the entire backboard and provide that professional league look.
The Pro-Star II TM features a safety lock out system so the post can be locked down to the minimum elevation using a standard padlock. If the user wishes to lock the post in at an elevation between 6'6" and 10'0", the clamp handle can be quickly removed and replaced with a 3/8" nut, thus requiring the use of a wrench to make rim elevation adjustments (not provided).
The base is formed from heavy gauge steel square tubing. Each of the components are welded together to make an extremely solid base. The base is designed to be used indoors or outdoors, and is secured by 3 anchor bolts. This provides stability and allows the unit to be moved as necessary.
The front of the base is fully padded with on inch of foam wrapped with 12-oz. vinyl. For added protection, the pad wraps around the side of the front support. Customer can select from a list of basic colors for padding.
